Simple ‘NTLDR is Missing’ fix for Windows XP.

December 1st, 2007 by admin

This is an annoying error which showed up mysteriously on an Acer Ferrari 3500. The most common cause for this is one or more windows boot files becoming corrupt. There are however other more serious reasons for this error like failing hardware. Bellow is an easy fix, if it is just one of the boot files being corrupt:

1. Get your windows XP CD and boot into windows setup.

2. At the setup menu press ‘R’ to repair windows.

3. Press the number ‘1′ and enter to choose your windows installation.

4. Type: copy D:\i386\ntldr C:\

5. Type: copy D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\

If prompted to overwrite files press ‘Y’.

6. Remove CD and restart your computer.

There you go an easy fix. Hope it helps.
