Windows shutdown command - set a timer to shutdown

December 5th, 2007 by admin

Have you ever needed to shut down a computer in the next few hours but had to also go do something else? Ever sat waiting for a download to finish before you could shut down and go to bed? Ever had to wait for an application to install before shutting down and leaving work? Well I have the solution for you.

The windows shutdown command, lets you specify a time to shut down or restart a computer.

shutdown -s -t <time in seconds before shutdown>

so

shutdown -s -t 20

will shutdown your computer in 20 seconds.
